Rules
Goal:
Goal of this sport is to place your playballs as close as possible to the target ball and thereby score points.
Course:
Every player has 3 identical playballs. One player is drawn or selected, to start the game by throwing the targetball from a starting point that he chooses. All other players have to play from this point as well. The target ball can be thrown basically anywhere, there is no special playing area. The player who had thrown the target ball has to start the game by throwing his first playball. All other players continue by throwing their first playball as well. The player who’s ball is furthest from the target ball, has to throw his second and third playball. All other players have to play their second and third playing ball as well, according to the distance. Afterwards the points are to be counted. The player who won the round begins the next round by throwing the target ball to a place he chooses. If two or more players scored identical points, then the player who won the previous round gets to start the next round.
Points:
Every playball which is closer to the targetball than any playball of an opponent, counts one point. If any playballs of two or more opponents are the same distance to the targetball, then each playball is counted. If a playball lands on top of an opponent's playball and covers it by half way, this is called a “kill” and the opponent's playball is not counted. The set ends as soon one player has made 13 points, but the set needs to be won with a two point lead. (for ex. 11-13 or 12-14). The player who has won 3 sets first wins the game.
Combos:
You like to collect some points faster!? If two of your playballs land directly next to each other, so that they are touching and one of these playballs is closer to the target than any of the opponent's, this combo counts 3 points. If three of your playballs land directly next to each other, so that they are touching and one of these playballs is closer to the target than any of the opponent's, this combo counts 6 points.
In our forum, you have the opportunity to read further combos, or if you create a new combo, you are able to present it in the forum to other players.
The Trend-Sport
Boccia or Boule is known by many from summer vacations as the quintessential outdoor sport played somewhere out on the beach, where you're trying to be the closest to the jack (pallino or boccino) with your own colored plastic balls. Or maybe you've even witnessed a game between elderly folk somewhere in the Mediterranean as they enjoy a glass of red wine while letting the day go by.
Crossboccia® is built on the same concepts as boccia and boules, but takes a whole new approach to the sport.
First and foremost in Crossboccia®, is freedom and creativity, much like in other trend sports like Parcour (Free-Running) or Crossgolf. Its free of any standards like a predisposed playing field. And when compared to the traditional game, Crossboccia® challenges the players' creativity to come up with their own elaborate course.
The Crossboccia® balls were designed with a 3-dimensional playing field in mind. For the first time, slanted surfaces, indoor, outdoor, stairs, windowsills and tables are all fair play for a game. What about ricocheting off the walls? Think about it! Crossboccia® is the dawn of a new era in b ule sports!
The Balls
The right ball in Crossboccia® is as rudimentary as the right surfboard to the surfer. Its different from the traditional stone, metal, or wooden balls used for other boule sports. The size still stays the same, but the rest has been customized to handle the new approach to the game. The balls are soft and pliable so that they yield to any surface they contact. They roll slightly, but will also come to a standstill on a slope. The balls are made of durable cotton fabric, are filled with plastic beads (not beans) and are double-stitched. In order for the players to tell their balls apart, especially from a distance, each set of Crossboccia® balls has its own unique design and color. Each set contains of 3 play-balls plus one jack. The play-balls weigh about 115g and the jack weighs about 20g.
